A heat pump is not right for every house
They work best in a house that holds its heat, with radiators big enough to run at a lower temperature. In a well insulated house, off the gas grid, they are excellent.
In a draughty stone cottage with small radiators, fitted badly, they are expensive and disappointing. Plenty of people have been sold one anyway.
We would rather tell you it is not the right move than take the job. If your house is not ready we will say what would need doing first, and what that costs.
A lot of the villages round Gillingham, Shaftesbury and Wincanton are not on mains gas. If you are running on oil or LPG, a heat pump is a genuine alternative rather than a nice idea, and that is where the sums work best.
Installed with a certified partner
Heat pump installations run through a certified partner’s scheme, which is what lets our customers access the government grant. We handle the survey, the design and the work. The certification and the grant paperwork sit with the partner.
We are telling you that up front because some firms are vague about it, and you should know who is responsible for what before you commit.
Common questions
The things people ask before they book
Sometimes yes, sometimes no. It depends on insulation, radiator sizes and how you use the heating. We survey it and tell you straight.
Grants run through certified installers. We work with a certified partner and they handle that side. We explain exactly how it works before you commit to anything.
Often some of them. A heat pump runs cooler than a boiler, so radiators sometimes need to be bigger. We tell you which at the survey.
Yes. The survey, the design and the work are ours. The certification sits with our partner.
