When to ring, and when to message
The phone is answered between seven in the morning and ten at night. Outside those hours it will not be, and we would rather say so than let you sit there redialling. Send a message instead and it is the first thing we look at.
There are two of us. We take on what we can genuinely get to, which means we will tell you straight away if tonight is not realistic, rather than booking you in and letting you down. If we cannot come, we will usually still talk you through making it safe.
No heating and no hot water in January is an emergency. So is a leak you cannot stop, a smell of gas, or a boiler locking out repeatedly. A dripping tap on a Sunday evening is not, and it will cost you less if it waits until Monday.
If you smell gas, ring the National Gas Emergency Service on 0800 111 999 first. Turn the gas off at the meter, open the windows, and do not touch any electrical switches. Ring us afterwards.
What we can usually sort the same day
- A boiler that has locked out, or is showing a fault code
- No hot water, or hot water but no heating
- A leak from the boiler, a valve or a radiator
- Pressure dropping again and again
- A pump or a diverter valve that has given up
- No power to the heating, or a tripping circuit
Gas, oil and LPG. We are Gas Safe registered and OFTEC registered, so an oil boiler on a village property is the same job to us as a combi in town.
Common questions
What people ask when something has gone wrong
£150 for the first hour and £90 an hour after that, day or night, within five miles of Gillingham. Further out we will tell you the figure before we set off.
The phone is answered between 07:00 and 22:00. We are a two man firm rather than a rota, so a three in the morning call out is not something we can promise. Message us and it is the first thing we pick up.
We do emergency plumbing at our discretion, as part of the heating and hot water side. A burst pipe or a leak we will look at. A bathroom refit is not us, and we will point you at somebody it is.
Check the pressure gauge is between one and one and a half bar, that the thermostat is calling for heat, and that nothing has tripped in the consumer unit. Note the fault code on the display before you reset it, because that is the thing that tells us what has happened.
Ring the National Gas Emergency Service on 0800 111 999 straight away. Turn the gas off at the meter, open the windows, and leave the electrics alone. That call comes before ringing us.
